Welcome to North Star Counselling Tayside

Helping you navigate life's challenges

Counselling, psychotherapy and supervision for individuals in a safe setting

Welcome, and thank you for visiting.

My name is Hilary McNally and I am a pluralistic counsellor and founder of North Star Counselling Tayside. I understand that all of us can experience times of difficulty in our lives, when events, circumstances or relationships feel overwhelming, or we can feel a loss of direction and purpose. My aim is to help you find your way through challenging times and towards a better understanding of yourself.

My starting point is that each one of us is an individual with a unique set of life experiences, beliefs, values and feelings. As a pluralistic counsellor I recognise that there is no one approach that works for everyone. Different things work for different people at different times and so the focus is on working together to find what is most helpful for you and your unique situation.

How can counselling help?

Counselling offers a confidential and non-judgemental space to talk about and explore issues that might be getting in the way of living the life you want. It can help you find your own solutions and lead to greater self-awareness and understanding.

"It is astonishing how elements that seem insoluble become soluble when someone listens, how confusions that seem irremediable turn into relatively clear flowing streams when one is heard." US psychotherapist Carl Rogers, A Way of Being, 1980

How I work

I work pluralistically which means I work collaboratively with each individual to tailor counselling to their specific needs and preferences.

I am happy to adapt the counselling space to meet your needs and work with you to provide a safe and supportive environment.

I offer free 20-minute introductory sessions to meet and answer any questions you may have. These can be via Zoom or phone. If you would like to find out more about what I can offer, please get in touch.

I don’t offer a crisis or out of hours service.
